Why Basic Blogger?

Google Blogger is popular for a reason--it's so easy to use! As most folks (though I admit not all) use gmail for their personal email needs, Blogger is an easy, free attachment to an already easy, free application. Though I must admit, as it is mentioned in this first blog assignments instructions, it is hard to make pretty. It is, however, free and easy to access. I originally started to create my blog through Pistach.io, as I already use Evernote, and you can really make a Pistach.io blog your own while attaching really great stuff like drawings, calendars, task lists, and GIF's! It does, however, cost money, which I find to be the ultimate barrier to most individuals. Moreover, you have to download an additional application in order to let folks comment on your posts. Google Blogger, on the other hand, is easy to share, and even easier for other people to see and comment on. Furthermore, you can still attach images, GIF's, and files--it's just a bit trickier to make look nice. Moreover, Google Blogger is a great tool to build PLN's, and/or share information amongst your network. With this application, are able to share notes, task lists, calendars, files, and you can even create drawings, and share these items with whomever you choose. In this way, you can share programming plans with co-workers across the nation, special calendars, or the tasks one needs to complete to preform a goal successfully. All of these uses help with professional development, and the dissemination of those developments to other folks who can benefit from them. As to how this application helps serve myself, I find it to be a successful method for organizing my many thoughts, plans, and tasks. In using Google Blogger, I can share programming plans with other librarians so that they can use the map-work however they see fit. For patrons, with a teen focus in particular (as that is what I do :)), one could easily run a "Teen Slice" blog for teens within the community that offers book recommendations, shares volunteer opportunities, and future programs, etc. You could even connect it to an email blast for those that want to subscribe! Overall, I find Google Blogger to be a very easy way blog, for both professional and personal use!
