Libby Screencast Tutorial
I must admit, this was rough for me! Screen-recording is not a problem, but for the absolute life of me, I could not add background music to the video. I tried everything! I even picked out the loveliest little country jaunt that was both upbeat but not distracting, but alas, it failed to stick. So, apologies, but all you will hear in this video is my nasally, frustrated, and tired voice :(.
But to move forward, for this video, I decided to focus on a problem that a lot of my older patrons have when using Libby--how to tell the difference between an audiobook and an ebook, and how to borrow or put items on hold! So, I covered both. This in of itself was not difficult, as I am an avid user of this application, and I hope my explanation was clear and easy to follow. If this were to be used in my library, I would have loved to do a screen-recorded instruction video on how to use the app on your phone as well, as that it what most people use. Alas, I was so technologically inept today that the computer was the safer way to go. I used the best practices of speaking slowly, pronunciation, and using my mouse as a pointer. Hopefully it shows! The closed captioning is added, all you have to do is activate it by clicking the "cc"!
Overall, this was a huge learning experience for me, and it is one I will be taking with me as I go forward in my career! Side note, the closed captioning is added, all you have to do is activate it by clicking the "cc"!

Hi Kyra, your brochure for Libby was one of my favorite creations! So I was looking forward to seeing your screen casting! Trying to link music to the background of my screencast was also very challenging. I ended up giving up, too, but at least we attempted. I really enjoyed reading your reflection and watching your tutorial! I appreciate that you addressed a real, common issue for older patrons by showing how to tell the difference between audiobooks and ebooks in Libby.
